Let the Countdown Begin!

It is officially 1 month until my favorite day of the year... VALENTINE'S DAY! I can't help but love a day that is 100% dedicated to L*O*V*E! I actually decorated on New Year's Day when I took down my Christmas decor, but I didn't get everything finished until this past weekend. I still want to make some cute paper chains like Mrs. Bass, but I will have to do that another day! Here is what we have going on for the Happy Hearts Day decor...

Our mantle is decorated with a Be Mine heart garland and lovey dovey photos of me and Greg...
I got these fun owl place mats for like $2 each at Target... then I opened my Valentine's decor box that I put together last year and found a tablecloth I must have purchased last year (and 4 more V-day place mats- oops!). C'est la vie- you can never have too much Valentine's Day decor!

The Valentine's dish towels have been hung, but Greg tends to dry his hands with paper towels when these are up... might be the pink.

I decided to use some of my Eiffel Tower collection for our centerpiece. Paris is the City of Love! I also got some fun damask candles at Pier 1 that were red and pink. They considered them Christmas items so they were 75% off! Yeah!

I normally use these sweet little butterflies on my Christmas tree, but I decided the would dress up my napkins and my ostrich feathers coming out of an Eiffel Tower...

Pink flowers are a must, and they look super cute in my new red vase that Mrs. Grammon gave me. Thanks Jess!
That is all I have up for the moment... I'd like to find something for my front door/patio. Maybe I will look this weekend.

Oh yeah! I haven't done this in awhile- maybe it is b/c I was a scrub all last week when I was sick. This is the outfit today- kind of dressy b/c I have a meeting... I sure do like my new yellow necklace :)

A Special Day!

It is a truly special day! My grandmothers, Nana (above enjoying her English tea...) and Memaw (below with me and my sister Julie)

share a birthday, and it is today! Nana is 82, and Memaw is right behind her at 81. I think it is cool that they are on the same day. I bet it is a pretty rare occasion! Sadly I can't celebrate with them today, but I sent them yummy Janie's Cakes to help celebrate.

I love Janie's Pound Cake. It is a little slice of heaven from Tyler.

So, Happy Birthday Nana and Memaw!

Whirl of a Weekend: Super Fun!

I love this print from Blanca Gómez. She is a great find I found from other bloggers. Her prints just make me happy!

Anyways, this past weekend was wonderful! Friday night Greg and I went to dinner with my parent's for his birthday- tasty and fun! Then on Saturday I got to have my sweet and beautiful nieces for the day! We started out with a trip to the awesome Discovery Science Place. This place is kid heaven!
Three Aliens

Katie is a News ReporterSarah is too!
Sarah getting ready for the news cooking segment with KatieKatie is teaching the world how to cook muffins

They had a pretend room where you could be anything you wanted! This was the eye doctor's office- she is nuttier than I am! She was also a doctor, a EMS tech, an actress and a fireman. Not to mention a grocery store clerk...They also had a fun light exhibit. Sarah is seeing both blue and yellow :)

Katie Rose is too cool in the disco mirror. They loved the Discovery Science Place!

We also met Christie and had a little lunch. Then my mom took Sarah home for a nap, and Katie and I had a little girl time and got our nails done. I'm sad I didn't get pictures- Katie had glitter...

Katie and Holly hanging out at our house

Oscar in his UT sweater- he is cozy cozy!

Sunday Greg and I went to go see Gran Torino.

One of the best movies EVER. It is a must see. Two Thumbs Up- maybe Three.

It was a great weekend. I feel so much better than I did this time last week too. I love being healthy!
Another thing that is going on with us today is that we are taking the Oprah Challenge to not go out to eat for a month. We have gotten into some seriously bad habits eating out this past year, so to try to create new habits we are eating in and cooking healthy for one month... if not more. So far so good! I'll let you all know how it goes!

A Very Very Fun Birthday for Greg

Last night was kind of a fun low-key 32nd birthday for my Gregory. Since I had been sick, and the big football game was on... Greg just wanted to pick up our favorite Joe's pizza and celebrate easy style. It was lovely! Here are some photos of the event:The Goods, including the UT Balloon and Popcorn surprise that was delivered to his office earlier in the day.

The guy made him wear the Longhorn hat around the office- he is such a good sport!

Greg also asked for custom doggie wrapping paper.

The candle flames glowed the same color as the candles!

The yummy Village Bakery Cake! Our favorite!

I think he got it done in one puff... can't remember!

He actually persuaded me to let him open his big gift early... after he tracked down the FedEx truck across town to get it last week...

He loves his new laptop- it is dark blue :)

A happy spoiled Gregory!

I got him a custom bobble head doll... too funny! They carved it and painted it to look like him!

Tonight we are going to dinner with my parents. Let the celebration continue!

Two Good Movies

I saw two really good movies over the holidays. I might have a thing for educational historical dramas....

Valkyrie- in Theaters Now

I am not a huge fan of Tom Cruise, but I think he did a really great job! This movie was really really good. My husband and I both enjoyed it. I highly recommend.

The Duchess- Rent via NetflixKeira Knightley did a wonderful job portraying Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire. I can't believe she wasn't nominated for a Golden Globe. I loved loved loved this movie. I am planning on watching it again tonight! The costumes and hair were absolutely amazing!

Aaaaaah Chuu!!!!

I have some how picked up a cold. Not fun at all...
