Over the Moon Excited!
Today has been a great day! I got to work late as usual, and had this waiting for me in my email inbox:| | Fri, Mar 6, 2009 at 2:01 AM | |

It was a biography of her summer living in New York in 1945 as Tiffany's first page girl. I am so so excited! I forwarded it to all of the book club girls, and I am going to email her back with some of our questions from the book.Totally made my day, week, month, year!!! Book clubs are such wonderful things, and authors who take the time to write their fans are even better!
Such a wonderful Friday surprise!

Good Times!
My friend Tish posted this picture on her blog from our super fun Paper[back] Dolls meeting last month. I noticed three things:1. I need to remove things from my fridge. It has WAY too much stuff on it!
2. I need to quit being lazy and cleaning my mirror with my kitchen counter spray and break out the Windex!
3. We are really awesome.
That is all. We had so much fun that night! I can't wait until we meet again at Tracy's house! (Tracy is the one being a goof)

Whirl of a Weekend: Hello and a Sad Goodbye
We did A LOT of driving this weekend.
On Saturday morning we, me, Greg and our little dog Holly, drove to Burleson, Texas- Kelly Clarkson's hometown...
to pick up Greg's new truck. We said goodbye to the Caddy, and he got a King Ranch Ford F-150.
He is a happy boy. I however will miss the Cadillac. I liked to press the sports button that made you extra zippy. We talked about me keeping it, but it is not very practical for hauling around all of my art canvases. Oh well, I'll deal. I like the new truck too!
After we picked up the truck we met Greg's parents for lunch at Logan's Roadhouse. It was really nice to see them! Holly was excited to meet her grandparents too!
We then headed to my grandmother's wake. I couldn't believe the amount of people who came! It was so nice to see so many family members and friends that I haven't seen in ages. My Memaw was definitely loved by many!
Greg and I headed home, only to get stuck in terrible traffic.
It took us 3+ hours instead of the normal 2. YUCK.
On Monday morning we woke up, got ready and headed to Dallas again for the funeral. It was sad to say goodbye, but my memories of her will live on forever. A huge thank you to my sweet friends who came to show their love and support. I truly appreciate it! My husband was also amazing this weekend. He was loving and caring the entire weekend despite being in the car for about 11 hours!

My Memaw

This morning my sweet Memaw went on to be with her Savior. She was a wonderful grandmother. She was feisty, strong, loving, kind, an amazing cook, honest and hip. She was a two time breast cancer survivor, a beauty shop owner and called me angel drip. I will always remember her LA Gear lame silver and gold tennis shoes, her awesome vintage kitchen where she used to cut our hair and her love for "her stories"/ Days of Our Lives. She had a glass bottled coke every day at 4:00pm, and made the most amazing stuffing at Thanksgiving. She was a one of a kind, and I will miss her dearly.

Early Spring at the Moreman's Casa
Spring needs to get here already! My house is already decked out thanks to a little inspiring shopping trip down the flower aisle and antique store!
I have added lots of tulips to my decor. I love tulips! They were only $6.00 a bunch at my local grocery store! My kitty Coco LOVES to sit on the table and look outside. Luckily we rarely use this kitchen table. We should try to use it more! I also pulled out my vintage poppy tablecloth and milk glass vase. Makes me happy!
I think these bunnies started it all! I picked them up on Saturday at my favorite local antique shop. Aren't they adorable!
I also picked up this sweet little pink bunny holding an egg. It is a little early to be making Easter eggs, so we will just call it a "tulip" for now...
I got these sweet cream and sugar yellow birds at Anthropologie in January. I was planning ahead!
More tulips in the entry. I thought I was fancy by putting my green vase in my silver candle holder thing. Makes the vase look like it didn't cost all of $5!
I have a serious addiction to antique aqua blue glass. This is called an epergne and this one was made by Fenton. You can use it for flowers or candle sticks.
It was actually my grandmothers, and a favorite family of ours, the delightful Irvines, gave it to her back in the day. I have loved it since I was about 8. When my grandmother sold her house she gave it to me. It is a cherished piece. I even keep the history of it in the center stem so I will always remember everything about it. Here is a similar one on ebay that Fenton made for their 100th anniversary in 2005... the old ones like mine are really rare!
I always make it my centeripiece in our formal dining room each spring and summer.
More tulips on the mantle... and aqua glass. Greg is too scared to take his custom bobble head I got for him to the office. He is afraid it will break, so it sits here on our mantle. I think I might need a Jenny Bobblehead for my birthday to match!
So welcome spring! Get here soon, because I have already decorated for it! Too bad I have yet to touch the garden... maybe this weekend!

2009 Oscars
I thought the Oscars were actually entertaining this year! Not sure if it was because I had DVRed it and speed through all of the boring acceptance speeches, or if the less formal structure helped. I just enjoyed it! I thought Hugh Jackman did an excellent job! He sure has guts to do that in front of all of his peers. I loved his opening act with Anne Hathaway- she has guts too! I also didn't know she could sing. What a lovely voice!
Now for the important things...
Best Dressed:
Penelope Cruz in her vintage dress. I think the dress won her the Oscar! Lovely in every way!
Natalie Portman looked pretty in pink, granted it clashed with the carpet. I thought it was charming.
Everyone seemed to have on this color last night- but this dress was amazing! I loved it! Anne looked tres chic!
Best Accessories:
I adored those awesome emeralds! Totally made the look!
Brad wasn't a bad accessory either!
I told Greg about 5 times that I wanted Amy Adams' Necklace. I love big statement necklaces!
Worst Dressed:
Beyonce always tries too hard. It looks like she might split her dress it is so tight!
Ehh. I have never seen this woman in a nice dress. Why does she always do this to herself?
I love Sofia- but wow- that's a lot of yellow ruffle.
He looks like he might have smelled.

Paper[Back] Dolls
Our new book club, The Paper[back] Dolls,
had our first book discussion meeting last night at my house. We had so much fun! The book was Summer at Tiffany by Marjorie Hart.
Everyone loved it! It was a sweet biography about a college girl in 1945 who spent the summer working as Tiffany's first female page. It was a delightful read! The girls in the book ended their summer with fancy ice cream Sundays, so of course for dessert we had to have fancy ice cream Sundays! Yummy!
The decor. Everyone got fancy giant diamond rings to wear. A must have when discussing Tiffany's.

The toppings...

The results...

I highly recommend being part of a book club. I am really enjoying it! Our next book is Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos.

Tracy, our awesome note taker and question thinker, picked it.
I am sure it will be LOVELY! Can't wait to read it!Here are some more photos of the discussion/Ice Cream Sunday fest!

Exciting News!
Last fall I entered an art competition for Hotel Nylo. Their new hotel is going to be in Las Colinas, Texas. I just heard last night that I won first place! I am so excited! My painting will either hang in the lobby as an original, or they might make glycie prints of my painting for the guest rooms. Either way I am super excited! I get a fancy grand prize, lots of publicity through their PR dept, and there is supposed to be a luncheon in July to meet the designers. I am so excited!
Here is the painting... Exciting News!

Whirl of a Weekend - a little late!
Greg and I celebrated our Valentine's on Friday night. We went to our favorite Mexican food resturant, Don Juans, and came home to relax. We had both had a crazy week! I did however manage to surprise Gregory with an iphone!
I NEVER get to surprise him. I was so excited I actually pulled it off! Woo hoo!
Greg gave me a beautiful box of Godivas *yum*
a sweet J necklace from Anthropologie,
and a glorius spa day on Saturday morning. It was heaven on earth! I also got some super sweet flowers. I am a spoiled woman! On Saturday night, after my day of pampering, we picked up our friends Christie and Nathan and headed to my parent's house for a Valentine's Day Dinner Party!
The table was lovely, and my niece Katie Rose and I decorated cupcakes yet again. She is going to be a pastry chef one day!
Me and Nathan exchanging Valentines...
Me, Christie and Nathan
Me and my sweet mini me niece Sarah playing crazy on the floor. We had lots of dancing going on!
Me and my fabulous Valentine! Yes, I love him despite the t-shirt he had on under his pullover! :) Just kidding Greg!
