Quote of the Moment

Being happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It means that you've decided to look beyond the imperfections.

Hooray!

I have been invited to be in an art show here in Tyler at the Foox Gallery! I have until April 15th to complete 5 pieces for the show. I am so excited!!! I will keep everyone posted on when the show is- I would love the support!

Tuesday already???

Hola! Well, I didn't come to work yesterday... wasn't feeling well....
Easter weekend was wonderful!! We had Katie on Friday night- we got pedicures, did some shopping, and then went to her favorite place to eat- Shoguns. You know... where they have the grill in front of you and cook and do tricks. Very fun! Saturday my co-worker Jim had a giant Easter Party. My mom and Sarah met us for that- along with Christie and her family. So much fun! Thanks Jim! Saturday afternoon I chilled and did some housework. Sunday we went to church in Canton, then had lunch at my parent's house. Sunday afternoon Court and her family came over to visit and measure our kitchen for counter tops! I am so excited! It was a great weekend! Yesterday I slept all day and watched TV. Very relaxing and "healing." Jessica Garza is coming to Tyler to meet me for lunch today! I am pretty excited! I might take her to Don Juan's- it is a must go type of place!!! Hooray for friends who visit!!!

Look...

Who I hung out with this morning!!! We went out to Tiger Creek again for a private tour and feeding. It was wonderful! The tigers were fabulous once again, and very active because they were hungry! I am truly amazed at how beautiful they are. I am in love with them!!! We also met some 2 day old baby chicks. They are adorable! I had a wonderful morning! Everyone have a fantastic Easter! Celebrate the gift of eternal life!

I am taking a breather!

What a week! I have been running around non-stop! Luckily, most of everything I have been working on is either at Kinkos or the printers. I will get them back this afternoon, so more fun will begin, but for now... I am taking a breather!
My weekend recap- yes a little late, but it was a super fun weekend!!! My mom, sister and the girls came out to Tyler, and we took them to Tiger Creek, which is a safe house for retired tigers. They even have Michael Jackson's tigers from Neverland Ranch! It was amazing! They are such beautiful animals! I have been invited by the director to go out there before they open tomorrow with Greg and watch them feed the tigers. We have a donor interested in giving them a gift in their will, so I guess you could call it a job perk! I hope I get to pet one! I am so excited! I love big kitties! Katie lucked out and got to ride around on Greg's shoulders. She loves her Uncle G! Sarah really liked to play in the sand. She, like her aunt Jenny, loves kitties too! I highly recommend a trip out to Tiger Creek! I played a crazy amount of tennis this weekend. It wore me out , but I had a great time! I even held my own while playing with 3 guys, who like to hit the ball as hard as humanly possible, on my Monday night league! I have bruises and ache all over- but I did better than I thought I would!
Greg is being EXTRA sweet to me this week. He just ordered me a 80g Ipod!!! I think it is my Easter present, but I know about it. I don't think it will fit in a plastic egg anyways! I think he is trying to butter me up so he can get a navigation mp3 player for his car. Bring on the butter! I don't think I even know 20,000 songs- but I will do my best to fill it up! Can anyone recommend good ipod speakers? I want to get some to plug in for when I paint.
I am really excited about Easter. Katie is coming to stay with us Friday night, and I plan on making the most of it! I love being an aunt! Haha, just kidding. This is just a kitt-hay pretending to be a tiger!

Okay, that is all- back to work!

Top 10

Reasons that I Think Tennis is the Greatest Sport Ever!10. It is great stress relief! You get to whack the crap out of the ball!9. Tennis gives you a great workout. You stretch, you jump, you swing, you run—therefore you use most of your muscles. When you play it is normally for about two hours, and if you are in a tournament you can play 3 times a day!!!

8. You get trophies when you win a tournament!

7. The tennis skirts. There are not many sports where you get to dress like a girl and actually look cute.6. I started playing tennis when I was about 5, and I can play until I die. It is great for all ages!

5. My favorite color is yellow- so I of course like the color of the tennis ball.

4. The wrist bands- who doesn't want to wear a wrist band every now and then?3. It is one of the oldest sports around. Henry VIII was an avid player!

2. You get to be outside and get a tan!

1. Greg plays with me!!!

Hooray!

It's Caturday Eve!

Quote of the Moment

I was going to start a quote of the day series, but I don't know if I will post everyday... so you get the quote of the moment. Which is.... (drum roll please....)
Do one thing every day that scares you.- Eleanor Roosevelt
I came across this quote randomly on someone else's blog. Which I was randomly sent to on Facebook. I think God planned for that to happen. That quote hit me with a ton of bricks. I am such a scaredy cat when it comes to taking risks. No Greg, this does NOT mean that I will ride the Tower of Terror again with you at Disney World! This means that I am going to try and do things that I tend to avoid because I think I am not ready or not good enough.

So, today my scaredy cat act was calling a local art gallery with the hopes of setting up an art show this fall. I had to leave a message, but it was a good first step! Pray they call me back! I am not really nervous anymore- just excited!

Eleanor Roosevelt was a JEM*! * My new thing. It is also my initials. I take it to mean gem, aka wonderful.

P.S. I already figured out this year's Halloween Costume! I will be "Art Pallet Girl!"

Oh my ...

the Scholarships are KILLING ME!After 3 scholarship seasons, I should know what to expect out of the students, but no... they still continue to shock and amaze me! I had one girl make me a pink scrapbook of why she needs this scholarship. In it, she included every single award she has ever received in her lifetime, and 3 essays on raising heifers and "roasters." I also say "DO NOT BIND" several times in bold text in the application, but I guess I wasn't very clear!

I should not be too harsh on the kids though. Most of the applications are wonderful and very heart warming. I just wish those kids, would get with the kids who are clueless and help each other out!

I also sliced my thumb open on one of the application folder brads. Battle wound! I am ready for April 29th. I can rest in peace that night and not think about the million things I have to do in the morning... granted I bet there will be something else to worry about then.

I really need to keep reminding myself of my favorite work related motto- Work to Live, Don't Live to Work. It is just a job, and I need to relax! (Greg is going to take me on a long drive tonight- so that should help!)

Sorry if this isn't very entertaining. Court did a great recap on Idol. I have been in meetings all day and buried in a pile of bad grammar.

Woo Hoo!

I am changin' things up a bit! More to come later if possible!

I am excited!

Christie is going to teach me how to make a quilt! I am kind of PUMPED! This is what I picked out for my first attempted. The soft brown minky will be the border and a brown satin for the backing. I will keep everyone updated on my progress!
