What's on Your Fridge Door?

This is what is on mine: Tennis Team photo, various awesome magnets- including the artist pallet, high heel and French postcards from Alli and the Masterpiece and Shopping magnet from Brit Hood and some totally awesome Napoleon Dynamite magnets I got for Greg, Art Show Invite, Sweet Bridesmaid card from Jessica G, Hobby Lobby Coupon, B. What's on yours?

A Little Change Does a Room Good

Well, I did a little redecorating this weekend. I didn't plan on it, but it happened.

It all started when our bedroom TV went out, so we put in a spare that I had in the office- and it too went out. I was a bit annoyed b/c I couldn't watch my favorite dvr-ed shows that were ALL NEW this past week. So, I talked Greg into going to "look" Friday night.

Well, that didn't take long. Greg practically picked out the biggest TV in the store. I think football season does this to men. His thought was that we would move the larger tv to our living room and move the smaller flat screen to our bedroom. Fine with me, just as long as I can watch Ugly Betty and Project Runway and actually see the outfits.

Well, the new wall mount had to be ordered, so now the black box monster is in our bedroom until it arrives. It looks funny in there, but oh well- I had fun watching movies on it this weekend. Greg and I put our old entertainment unit out on the curb as a free-be, and I went shopping! I used some space in the old cabinet to store my pajama bottoms and work out gear. I was glad to see it go. It had been on my visual nerves for about a year. (Sorry I don't have a pick of it- it is long gone. People like free!)

I headed to an antique store that I always plan on visiting and never tend to remember. Well Saturday I remembered! It is the neatest store and such a hole in the wall! I get giddy and have butterflies when I go antique shopping. Makes me happy. Well, I walked around a bit, and then I saw it. Oh how I fell in love. It is a marble top chest, and it was ONLY $125!! Deal of the century!

The jury is still out, but my parents think it is circa 1850's. It has the most delicate hardware!
I am going to take it over to my dad's workshop and (help) strip it and re-stain it. I hope he doesn't steal it for Canton Antiques! I am so excited to see how beautiful it really is when all of the bad stain job is off. I promise to post finished pics.

Well, then I started moving everything around. I switched out my mirrors and moved some lamps around. This black chest was where the new one sits now. I am using it as my nightstand...

and my old nightstand moved to wear the old entertainment center was. My cherry painting was also moved b/c the tv will hang in it's place.

This saga reminds me of the book When You Give a Mouse a Cookie.
I also got this super cool book light in the mail on Friday. I love it!! It is very high tech, functional and I can move it all around and hide it when needed! I was sick of Greg saying "light bright" over and over again to my bedside lamp when I would read past his bedtime.

I had fun re-decorating. I didn't get as much painting done as I would have hoped, but oh well! It was a good weekend!

My Next Automobile...

The Chevy Traverse. I am in love. I've test driven everything under the sun, and this is what I want. It is fabulous! Now I just have to talk the husband into it!

It has a 5 star crash rating all around, air conditioned seats, 2 sun roofs, captain chairs in the 2nd seat and a 3rd row of seats, all which flatten out making plenty of room for my art and antique shopping! I guess I am a Chevy girl after all!

I think I want it in brown. Is that weird?

Pieces of Me

A little glimpse...
A shelf in my studio/hole that is totally the essence of me. A couple of Eiffel Towers, batik dyed fabric elephant, funky vintage floral embroidery, pink flamingo from a mission trip to Mexico, Alice and the very late Mr. Rabbit, a couple of giraffes, a portrait of my mom from h.s., Figment of your imagination, an art deco teddy bear and a figure drawing from college- all on a yellow shelf. People who know me know that it is pure Jenny.

My Studio/Hole where the magic happens

A little self portrait that I randomly painted last night while waiting on things to dry- of course I am yellow....

It's (REALLY!) Time to Get Busy Painting

During my lunch break today, I purchased about 30 canvases for my Texas Rose Festival art show. It is a little daunting to think about! Granted, there were several small canvases, but still- that is a lot of painting to do by October 9th! I guess if I seem anti-social, just know that I have locked myself in my little make shift studio. I will post progress if I make any!

Feel free to leave me some itunes music download suggestions to keep me motivated during my nights hanging out with my paintbrush.

Also, let me know if you would like to be on my art show mailing list. Just e-mail me your snail mail address if you would like to receive my art show invites!

Here is to Football/Jenny Out Weekends and Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

Today is the first day of fall! I couldn't be more excited! I do love love love summer, but when it is still hot in September, and you can't get buy with sporting your super summery eyelets and linens, it is time to move on! I had a wonderful weekend!

I was a totally bookworm on Friday night. I finished Twilight and hung out with Greg, who was already watching some Baylor football.

Saturday I woke up and drove to Dallas. I had a hair appt. at 12 with Don. I got a decent chop and went a few shades darker for fall. I usually do this after the summer to remove all of my swimming pool and too much summer hair issues. Whatcha think?
Then went to go visit with my Memaw. She is doing much better than expected after her stroke. She is such a strong woman, I really admire her ability to have faith and keep charging ahead! Thank you for all of your prayers- it really works!!!

After my visit I met up with Mrs. Bryson for a little shopping at Northpark. I had a sweater to return, and then we hit up a few favorite stores. I got some beautiful fall eye shadows at MAC and Court got a cute outfit from the Gap. It was good girl time! Then I headed home to get some painting and reading done. I also had an my 12x12 art show that night in downtown Tyler. A ton of Tyler artist submitted 12x12 inch paintings to make a neat overall effect. The three on the bottom right are mine, and the one with the pink flower is and the black on the left are mine in the 2nd pic.
I am also a super nerd. I purchased New Moon- the 2nd book after Twilight, on my way home Saturday night.... and I've already finished it. It was over 600 pages! I seriously read it in 2 sittings. When did I become such a nerd? I am not going to let myself purchase the 3rd until I finish at least 2 more paintings for the Rose Festival show.

I recommend everyone take a trip down to Starbucks and get a Grande NF Pumpkin Spice Latte with No Whip Cream to celebrate fall. Tell them Jenny sent you!

Bookworm Jenny

I am super glad that it's Friday today! It seems to have been a long week- I think that is b/c it's my first time to work a full week in 3 weeks. I had a good week though. The weather was gorgeous, and I was able to spend some time outdoors walking with my sweet puppy and playing tennis.

Yesterday I had some great news! Someone called me about wanting the sweet Ike puppy! She is supposed to pick him up tonight. He will have two boys to play with too! I am so excited. Two puppies finding homes in less than two weeks- I may have found my calling! Just kidding, I seem to have a new calling each week- but I will continue to rescue dogs. I couldn't live with myself if I didn't. They are one of God's most precious gifts.

Last night my husband and I went out for a little relaxing date night. He had a really rough day at work, so I took him to the Kitty Kat Lounge aka Fat Catz for a little unwinding and blues music. They have the BEST Cajun chicken quesadillas! Then we headed over to Caffe Tazza for their artist night and a little more live music and vino. We brought sweet Oscar along for the trip to Tazza and sat outside. It was beyond lovely! Then Greg ran me over to Barnes and Nobles and bought a new book...

Which leads me to a few book recommendations! I have been reading, when I should be painting- but I think I love reading just as much as I love painting- so it is a tough call! If' you have noticed my new quote on my blog header, you would know that I am a HUGE HUGE HUGE Jane Austen fan. I love the books, movies and even books written about Jane's characters today. I picked up Mr. Darcy's Diary by Amanda Grange for my trip to San Francisco. Mr. Darcy is by far my favorite male character in any book I have ever read. I have a little fiction crush on him... but it doesn't even compare to the crush I have on my husband -so no worries. I highly recommend this book. It is such a great companion to the original novel. It is seamless perfection and a great read!

My next book to recommend is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer A lady I work with, who knows my reading obsession, handed me her copy and told me I would love it. I have seen this book around book stores all over the place, but the cover never really attracted me. I knew it was about vampires- and that is not normally my reading scene. Well I started this book 2 nights ago, and with minimal reading time I am already on page 350! It is a page turner, and I was excited to find out they already made a movie about it that comes out this fall. It has Cedric from the Harry Potter movies as Edward. It also has several books that follow it, which is exciting for reading nuts like me. I predict I will have them all read by October- sad but true.

While I was looking up info on the Twilight movie, I came across Keira Knightley new movie The Duchess. Well, I love Keira Knightley. I think it is because she stared in Pride and Prejudice- favorite book, and movie love is rivaling my Breakfast at Tiffany's love. I thought I might really like this movie because of its time period, and I vaguely remembered a book that I wanted to read ages ago called Georgiana: The Duchess of Devonshire by Amanda Foreman. Turns out that it is the same story- so I ran out and got this book. I am hoping to read it before I see the movie, which comes out today. The books are always way better than the movie, which sometimes makes watching movies a let down- but oh well! I am sure I will see it anyways.

Well, that turned into a long rambling post of my reading thought process.

I'll leave you with a few of my favorite quotes about reading:

There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island. - Walt Disney

The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read.
- Mark Twain

Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are. - Mason Cooley

I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.
- Groucho Marx

There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all. - Jacqueline Kennedy

My mom just told me that my sweet niece Katie has finally started to enjoy reading real books. She picked up one of my all time favorite series last night for the first time! The American Girl Series. Oh how I loved those books when I was her age! She started out with Samantha, since she has the doll. I wish her many years of reading pleasure!

Well, Another Puppy Needs a Home!

First off, I wanted to thank everyone for helping me find the last puppy a home. I think I found him about 7 different homes, but he is happy and overly loved in a family with 6 kids!!!

I think word has gotten around to the lost puppies that I am the girl to find when you need a home! A teacher friend of mine discovered this little guy trying to go to school. He was obviously hungry and not being looked after and heard school was a good place! She knew Ike was coming, so she took him into her home and asked me to help him find a home. I went to meet him, and wow- this is the most loving and grateful dog I have ever met! One of a kind stray mutts tend to be very thankful for showing them any kindness. All he wanted to do was sit in my lap and have me love on him. He is very good with kids and like I said- really loves to snuggle.

He is an original one of a kind special blend, but I am thinking he might be part boxer because of his floppy ears, muzzle and tail. Boxers normally get their ears and tails docked which is why you don't normally see them looking like our friend here. He is about 15 pounds, and I don't think he will be more than 25-30 when he is fully grown. It is my guess that he is about 3-4 months old. He already does great outside during the day, but is also crate trained.

He is a very sweet dog who would love to be a part of a loving family! Please forward this on to anyone you might know of who would be interested in our little Ike puppy! E-mail me at jennifermoreman@gmail.com if you would like to meet this little cuddle puppy!
