Happy Birthday Baby Mama Bryson!

On Sunday I drove into Dallas to deliver "Judge the Longhorn" to the Sparks, and have a wonderful little birthday lunch to celebrate "Mama to Be" Courtney's birthday with my friend Jaran! We met at Luna de Noche at Northpark. Jaran brought some AWESOME cupcakes from Central Market, and we shopped afterward. Such a treat to see two of my favorite girls!Jaran and Courtney

I'm so sad I didn't take a picture of the cupcakes! We had 6 different flavors! Coconut, Red Velvet, Nutella, Vanilla Waffer, Peanut Butter and Peppermint! We tried most of them!!

This is Judge the Longhorn. Justin and Elizabeth Sparks wanted a longhorn for Justin's Fort Worth law office. They loved the NYLO cow and wondered if I could duplicate it- I was surprised by how close I got! Glad to know I can make more :)
Me and my hotty hubby at the Main Street Gallery art show this Saturday. My horses made the show! YAY!
I finally got a little bit of pink hair! It's on my shoulder like a butterfly :) I might want more next time! I think I got it because I could. I have no one to tell me I can't have pink hair anymore! I'm an artist- it is kind of expected right!?

An Update!

Greg and I are headed to Orlando next week for a much needed vacation! We will be celebrating 4 years of wedded bliss! I am so happy to be married to such a wonderful man. I am a lucky girl!
Sorry I have been a bad blogger. I have been busy painting! I guess that is a good thing right!?! Bruno the Longhorn was sold last week to a stranger in New York City. I feel like I've "made it" now that I have one of my cows hanging around in the big city!

I also posted some special priced owl paintings on etsy to celebrate Halloween and my anniversary! Enjoy Mr. Hoots and Mrs. Hoots!

I hope everyone is having a GREAT week!

I have scheduled some blogs to post while we are away on our trip, so be sure to check it out!

Super FUN Whirl of a Weekend

What a fun weekend! A rainy weekend, but a fun one! It started off with me watching the Texas Rose Parade on TV and then meeting the Jones crew at Chick Fil A. They were brave and went to the parade. I am a lazy bum who watched it on TV in bed with her hot coffee. After lunch I headed to the Bell Family Farm Pumpkin Patch! I used to work with Jim Bell. They have quite a set up, and it is all free! I bought 2 pumpkins, which I turned into owls (see post below!) The pumpkin patch is located right behind Villa Montez. It is open every Friday and Saturday in October. Good times, I hope to go back with my nieces soon!

After my pumpkin trip I decided to work in the yard. I got this flower bed done. I started another, but got cold and gave up. I will tackle it more this week!

I was able to finish up the front porch on Sunday. I got rid of some dead junk and planted my pansies. I love fall!

On Sunday night I had the girls over for Chicken Tortilla Soup and Whoonu! So much fun! On the soup, I swapped out the oregano for cumin, used all chicken broth instead of water and added a can of enchilada sauce. It was PERFECT for a cold and rainy Sunday night! I also made the always popular Neiman Marcus chocolate chip cookies for dessert. YUM.
Whoonu is so much fun. I highly recommend! I learned a lot about my friends! Tracy loves fried chicken and Tish likes t-shirts more than bicycles! I also learned that Christie is not a huge fan of red and Jessica HATES speedboats! Good times :)

Such a fun weekend. I hope this week is half as good!

Happy Owl-O-Ween & Brando

I decided to paint my pumpkins this year. I have a thing for owls! Especially ones that are blue, red, purple and pink. Whooooooooooo hoooooooooooo!

Meet Brando! He is my newest longhorn painting. He is 36x48". Yee Haw.

Falling in Love with Fall

I love fall. It makes me so happy. I started putting out my fall decor about a month ago in anticipation, but finally posted a couple of things!

My kitchen... Yes, you do spy a pumpkin full of candy corn. Don't tell my trainer.

The Texas football helmet stays up most of the year. I try to move it, but it always come back. I figure it fits with the fall mantle. Greg also loves his custom bobble head, that stays too. The little silver ghost and candy corn garland are new! I also framed a cute picture of our dog Oscar in his Halloween costume, along with a picture of our wedding invite and rings since October 29th will be our 4th anniversary.

I also need to get our yard ready for fall! My friend Tracy, who is having a GIRL in Feb, and I went to Hughes plant farm in Tyler. BEST deals on earth for plants. I had fun! Tomorrow, when I plant it all might not be AS fun.
These reminded me and Tracy of Alice and Wonderland. I love when the flowers start to sing to Alice...
Such happy pansy faces!
Ornamental cabbage is a must :)

Tracy went for the beautiful yellow!

I have an Itch

To redecorate my house! We have had our house for 4+ years, and I thought I was just about happy with everything... and now I've decided I am ready for a change!

My living room is too blue. I always thought it was too blue, but now I finally want to change it. I think I want to try teal. The room is big, so I want to do a darker color to make it more cozy. I have a lot of oak in the room, so I think the teal and oak would go well together. Greg has also been promising me crown molding. I can't wait!

I also want to change my guest bath. My sweet Coco lived in the bathroom at nights because she had some issues and would bang on our bedroom door all night if we didn't put her in there. She could come have slept in the bedroom, but then the 3 little dogs wouldn't sleep all night because they were so enamored with the kitty.

Anyways... when we moved in I took down 3 sheets of tacky wall paper, and then decided to texture the walls on my own. I think I got in too much of a hurry near the end and it looks a little rough. I am thinking I might sand it down a bit and repaint it in a light turquoise. I just want to freshin' up the place after having the cat in there so long.Current

Here goes nothin!

Goodbye My Sweet Coco Kitty

My sweet kitty Cossette "Coco" went on to the Rainbow Bridge tonight. I knew her days were ending soon, but I was shocked that they ended this evening. I flew to San Diego to get Coco and her cousin Angel when I was a junior in high school. They were actually supposed to be my mom and sister's pets, but I was the one who flew to pick them up., and Coco has been living with me for the last 4 years. She was a Ragdoll cat known for their sweet temperament. Coco was the best painting buddy, she knew how to fetch, she loved the puppies and was a wonderful and beautiful cat. I will forever miss her and love her.

She was so beautiful.

Here with her cousin Angel, who is also waiting at the Rainbow Bridge. She was probably about a year here? Maybe?

She loved to play outside, but it was a very special occasion when we let her!

Our family misses her already! The dogs adored her!

Rainbow Bridge Poem: this has helped me get through a loss of a pet for as long as I can remember. I have quite a few beloved friends waiting for me there!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

A Day with Katie Rose and More Art

On Sunday, I headed BACK to the Dallas area for yet another art show. I got juried into the Irving Art Association's Wildlife Show. I decided that my sweet 9 year old niece Katie Rose needed to go with me! She is an animal lover like me. She was also really sad she couldn't go with her mom to the Pink event the night before!

First we headed to lunch at La Madeline. It is a favorite of mine, and now is a favorite of Katie's! She still likes the Tarzan Caffe (Caffe Tazza) better though! She got just about everything on the menu, and we had a GREAT time!

Then we headed to the show. I was honestly surprised I got in. It was a very tight and realistic show. My work is much more modern. It is a very respected show, so I was thrilled to have made the cut! Only 70 out of 200+ made it in the show. I just had this little feeling that mine was not like the others, oh well. I guess someone liked it!Me and Katie with my Wild Buffalo

This piece won best of show- it was bananas and in colored pencil!

This artist won the painting division and is from California! This painting won the President's award.A watercolor...

More of the show...

After the show we stopped and did a little shopping. Katie is such a nut! Love her to pieces!
