Top Ten...
Ways to Get Over Stress Caused by the Stock Market and Other Yuck Things:
10. Go eat Mexican food. Don Juan's in Tyler is preferred and a margarita always aids in relaxation.
9. Go on a walk, but not in the rain.
8. Hug a puppy. I have four if you would like to come hug one...
7. Chew spearmint gum or mints. The scent is known to relieve stress.
6. Indulge in some Valentine's Day chocolate early.
5. Take a bubble bath and use the fancy bubbles. Add in a glass of vino and more chocolate...
4. Exercise in bed... if you are married of course. :)
3. Buy yourself flowers. They don't have to be expensive. I love large bunches of carnations. They are cheap and last up to two weeks!
2. Go shopping. Everything is on SUPER SALE right now.
1. Write a blog. It makes you think of ways to cheer yourself up!

Whirl of a Weekend: But Not Really much of a Whirl
This past weekend was actually pretty relaxing, and it really needed to be! After our insane week last week, we needed some down time.
I actually don't remember what we did on Friday night. I think we were THAT tired. I am pretty sure I watched What Not to Wear,
but that is all I can recall! Let's say we passed out around 9, b/c that sounds about right!
On Saturday we woke up around 10:30 and had massages. It was heavenly. We went to Salon Kalea in Tyler and got rub downs by Linda. I am pretty sad that our favorite Misty quit, but Linda is great too! She worked out some of our kinks, and Greg said as part of my Valentine's Day gift I get to come back Saturday for an hour massage and a facial! Yay!
After our heavenly rub downs we went to lunch and ran some errands. We somehow decided to go look at trucks for Greg. We ended up going to Classic Toyota in Tyler
to look at the Toyota Tundra. Greg actually liked one, and we started working with a guy about trading in the Cadillac and normal "buy a car" things. We were about to decide the deal wasn't going to work out, which was fine, when the evil sales manager ANDY SCOTT came in.
He was the rudest person I have ever encountered in the sales/customer service business. He is the type of guy that gives car salesmen a bad name!
So rude, and he actually stormed off and pouted when he realized we really weren't going to buy his truck. He even slammed the door! I mean things must be pretty bad at Classic to actually pout and stomp off! Sadly they have lost our business forever. And to think- this after such a lovely massage. Good thing I am going back to Linda this Saturday!
After that fiasco, I decided I need to do a little Valentine's Day shopping to cheer me up.
I purchased all of my Valentine's cards and heart candies, did a little shopping at Macy's and headed home. That night I started Greg's Valentine's present. I will post more on that when the time comes. It is top secret. I will tell you that I think he will LOVE it if I get it done in time! We also watched Tora, Tora, Tora
on TCM, it was pretty good. I was impressed with the visual effects considering when it was made. I learned something about Pearl Harbor too, always a plus when watching a movie.
On Sunday, we were bad and slept in. Greg has another trial this week and was still exhausted from getting up at 4:00am and not getting home until 8:00pm all last week. We went out for lunch and then I did my typical grocery shopping and had my Sunday team tennis practice. That night we (I, Greg crashed) watched Babel.
It was pretty good. The nude asian teen kind of weirded me out, but other than that it was good.
Besides the bad Classic Toyota experience, we had a great weekend!

Thank You...
First off, I want to thank everyone for such a fantastic turn out at my show last week. I had an amazing time, and I am humbled by all of the encouragement and support I continually receive. I really appreciate it!Secondly, over the weekend I listed all of the work from the Caffe Tazza show and the prices on my website if you would like to check it out. I am also selling signed prints of my art work and some of my photography for the very first time. All of the prints are 8x10 and unframed prints are $20.00 and the framed and matted prints are $38.00. See the website for the framing samples.
Third, my studio is getting smaller and smaller because I keep painting more pieces. I am having an early "I'm ready for spring" cleaning sale of my work. Also on my website. You can't beat these prices on original artwork that is for sure! I'd rather see them loved enjoyed in my friends and family's homes than stuffed in a corner of my little art space.
Thank you again for a wonderful show!

Art Show Pics
I had such a fun night last night. I had a ton of friendly faces to talk to! I think that is why I love to have little art shows- I get to see everyone!!! Sadly I didn't get a picture with my Valentine. His best friend surprised us from Dallas! Thanks Jimmy! He really cheered up my Greg, who had to get up at 4:15am for a trial in Marshall yesterday. Awful!
Anyways, here are some fun pictures of the night. I will post all of the art work, sizes and prices on my website later today or tomorrow...
P.S. Some of my pieces are on sale too. Yay! I need to clean out my studio and make room for more work!
What a Hoot- Sold

Yes, I did wear a hot pink flower clip in my hair. I think it helped sell paintings :)

Whirl of a Weekend- a Little Late!
This past weekend I made a quick trip to Dallas to meet up with Courtney and Jaran to attend our sweet friend Dede's baby shower! She is due sometime next month. It was great to see everyone again!
Courtney, Me, Preggo Dede and Jaran
Me and Court... I can't not wear my yellow necklace can I!
Me and Jaran- she doesn't quite know why I insisted a purple balloon be in the photo... but she really does b/c she knows me rather well!
The cute diaper cake
The Dede baby photo collage- sweet Dede! I've known her for 2 decades!
Before the shower I met with Don at Salon Opus. I have gone to him since I was in the 6th grade! He is the owner of the salon and shows my art work. Go visit him and my art on Addison Circle. It is great! Gotta love Don!
I also ran to visit my sweet Memaw who doesn't quite remember me anymore, so sad, and to cheer me up a much needed quick trip to the Galleria. I found some great deals at Banana Republic and Macy's. I got a super fun dress for $7 at Macy's! How on earth can you beat that???
It was a productive but tiring weekend!
P.S. Sorry I have been such a slacker this week. It has been INSANE! Pray that the art show goes well tomorrow!

Happy Hearts
I couldn't end my day on such an awful note. Life is too good for that! My day got much better! Holly is doing great. Greg picked her up from the vet on his way home from Marshall. She is still acting a little drowsy, but ate a good dinner and is sleeping right now with my Greg. They both crashed at 8:00pm!
I on the other hand have been painting. I decided that listening to an audiobook and painting doesn't work for me. I think it pulls my brain from one side to the other too much. Music is the way to go! Not sure how I am feeling about it, but this is what I have been doing tonight:
Tomorrow I will post pictures of my fun Dallas trip this past weekend. Now I am going to go paint and clean! Adious!

Oh my gosh. This morning was awful.
At 6:30 I let my 3 little dogs out- Celis, our blue heeler,
was already out. It is cold and my little ones are wimps- so I go to let them in at 6:35am. Oscar
and Woody
came in right away as usual, and they were missing their partner in crime- HOLLY GOLIGHTLY!
I was just glad she was alive! I felt like the biggest idiot. My dad thought I was going to pass out because I was crying so hard. My dog's are my children. I can't bare the thought of loosing one!
Worst morning to date.
I'll keep you guys posted on what I hear from the vet. Please keep her and my sanity in your prayers!
My Greg left like at 6am for Marshall, Texas b/c he has a big important trial starting today...

We rescued little Holly off of the streets last Halloween. She has become a very loved member of our family.
I searched and cried for about 45 mins. I was running around half dressed outside our house yelling at the top of my lungs for little Holly. I am sure the neighbors think I am clinically insane.
I called Greg and my dad both whaling that an owl got her- it was awful. We have seen owls in the mornings in our backyard- and Holly weighing 6 pounds could easily be owl food. Having lost my beloved Chance to a hawk while living with my parents in Canton, you can imagine how I was feeling!
My dad told me to search for a hole somewhere in the fence where she could have gotten out. Greg is super serious about keeping our dogs safe- we have privacy fence with a concrete base to avoid dig outs- so I was thinking that couldn't have happend. Then i see a little brown furry ear. She had buried herself in leaves under our back corner bushes. I went to see if it was really her, and thank heavens in was. She did not want to move and was totally lethargic. Like a lot of dogs, Holly tends to hide when she doesn't feel well.
We went to the vet asap. They think she might have licked off one of the dog's flea medicines last night, and it could have made her sick. They all get their meds on the back of their necks on the 1st. They aren't sure, and her temp was low so they are keeping her to give her fluids and checking on her while I am at work. I finally made it to work at 10am!I searched and cried for about 45 mins. I was running around half dressed outside our house yelling at the top of my lungs for little Holly. Thought Process...
Okay, sorry for all of the art posts. With my show coming up, I have it on the brain. This is what I made a huge mess doing last night. It is a pretty big canvas- 30"x40". I turned my legs all shades of the rainbow with paint splashes. Let's hope that my little plastic sheet did its job to protect the carpet in my guestroom/studio...
This is what I am planning to do tonight. I wanted to try it out via photoshop today before I take the plunge.

What do you think?
AND GOOD NEWS! Little Lost Lucy went home with a GREAT family last night!
I am so happy! Great job to my husband for saving this sweet puppy and finding it a wonderful new home!
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Game Time!
So, Mrs Lipman posted a super fun game that I could not pass up on joining! If you want to play, leave me a comment and I will assign you a letter. Then, post about the game on your blog and list 10 things that you LOVE that begin with your assigned letter! Jennifer assigned me the letter "R"...so here is my list of 10 things that I LOVE that start with R!
1. Rick Rack- random "R" Love, but I love any sort of trim. I like to decorate stuff with it.
2. READING!- I love to read. Books are wonderful. I love the smell, the smooth pages and their content!
3. Red- One of my favorite colors. So bright and vibrant!
4. Roses- living in Tyler how could I not love them?
5. Romance- who doesn't love a little romance every now and then?
6. Roasting Marshmallows- Greg and I do this on our patio with our chiminea. So much fun!
7. Rescuing Puppies- it can be really heartbreaking, but the satisfaction of finding a puppy a new loving home is so rewarding.
8. Rocky Road Ice Cream- Marshmallows, nuts and chocolate- tasty.
9. Random Acts of Kindness- there needs to be more of them everyday!
10. Reaching High in the Sky- I like to stretch. It is refreshing... come on now- everybody do it!
And there you have it....my list of 10 things that start with "R" that I LOVE. Let me know if you want to play!
11. I really love Reese's Buttercups- Thanks Jaran!

Books, Lost Puppies and Hooty Whooos
Yesterday my books I ordered from the totally awesome Barnes and Nobles 75% off sale came in- YAY! I am so excited to dive into them all! I love sales and free shipping!
Greg also picked up a little lost puppy yesterday. I have named her Little Lost Lucy.
We are trying to find her parents, but alas, no one is claiming her lost. I get pretty depressed about irresponsible pet owners. Anyways, this is our new foster doggie. Her ad runs in the local paper, and I will start to try to find her a new home by the weekend. So sad, but she is such a sweet girl it shouldn't be too hard. I think she is a boxer and terrier mix. She is about 20 pounds and very much still a puppy. She loves to play, is crate trained and is very friendly. Let me know if you are interested in giving a little lost puppy a loving home.
I also worked on my first owl painting last night. I had so much fun! I am not sure if this one is done or not, but I am sure I will keep painting some crazy owls!
