I had a random thought today...

I was sitting in my car, about to head home to meet my beloved for a little lunch, when I saw our happy mailman at work driving away in his little white jeep. I thought to myself, I think it might be kind of fun to be a mailman. Maybe I should quit my job and become a mail"woman."

In our neighborhood we have little drop slots for the mail, so the mailman is always walking with his bag from house to house. I thought to myself, wow I bet it is a great feeling to have the simple task of walking door to door delivering mail. It is great exercise, and such low stress! You get plenty of vacation days, and I am sure the hours aren't very bad. You don't really have to talk to anyone all day if you don't want to, and nobody is there to bug you while you work.

At this point, I was thinking- wow I should totally become a mailman.... but then my good sense came in. I started to think about how my mail comes on Saturday. I would never want to work on Saturdays! I do believe the mailman also works on Christmas Eve- that is a no no for me too! I also started to think about the uniforms. I had enough of those at TCA. What if your route was in the ghetto, and what if someone tried to take your packages! I also thought about how dogs never really like the mailman, and you have to work when it is cold and rainy. I bet it is pretty chilly in those little white jeeps in the winter, not to mention walking around in it all day! I also bet that all that mail gets pretty heavy in those bags, and I don't think I would like to carry such a dull heavy bag all day. (Maybe Coach should make the US Mail bags- but I will save that for a different day).

So, with everything considered, I decided that I should not quit my job and become a mailman. This was seriously what I was thinking about on my way home for lunch. Am I weird? I think the scholarship season stress is getting to me already!

These are a Few of My Favorite Things

I am in the mood to be happy, so why not write about a few of my favorite things!
(Yes, sing the tune- you know you want to!)

First off, My favorite person is Greg. He is a sure favorite of mine! My favorite show is Project Runway- which is on tonight! Holla- I am hoping for Chris, but I bet Rami wows tonight. One of my favorite things to do is read. My other favorite things to do are to paint outside, walk the dogs with Greg and play tennis. My favorite puppy is Oscar, and my favorite movie is Breakfast at Tiffany's. My favorite colors are red and yellow, and my favorite flowers are Gerber daisies, hydrangeas, orchids and peonies. My favorite place to go in Tyler is the Tyler Rose Garden, and my favorite Tyler restaurant is a tie between Currents and Don Juans. My favorite month is October, and my favorite season is the fall, with summer close behind. My favorite US Travel destination in Disney World, and my favorite Disney character is a tie between Figment and Remi. My favorite day of the week is Caturday, and my favorite thing about it is not having to wake up early and go to work. My favorite artists are Warhol, Jim Dine and Wayne Thiebaud. My favorite beverage is water, and my favorite food is chocolate.
That is a lot of favorites. I might need to save the rest for another day! It is good to have favorite things. I simply remember my favorite things, and then I don't feel so bad!

Peace, love and Favorite Things!

The Good * The Bad * The UGLY

Well, I didn't watch the Oscars this year... but I never really watch the Oscars. The only reason the Oscars are any fun is because of the clothing. I am however excited that Ratatoullie won Best Animated Film. Congrats to my beloved Disney and Remi!

For BEST Dressed: I have to give it to Heidi Klum. Why she was there- who knows, but I loved the red. It was FIERCE as Christian would say. The silver after party dress was a little short for my taste, but she rocked it.

Best Dressed Over 50 Goes to: Helen Mirren. I loved the sleeves.

Best Dressed Honorable Mentions Go To: Jennifer Garner Anne Hathaway Katherine Heigl Penelope Cruise

Worst Dressed Goes to: Tilda Swinton- she looks like she is wearing a trash bag with no make up

Worst Dressed Honorable Mentions go to: Jennifer Hudson- this dress made her boobs look weird. It is an improvement to last year's Oscar mess though. Renee Zellweger- this girl needs to eat. This thin is not attractive.

We all know that the men don't really matter at red carpet events, they are just accessories.

That is all... back to work!

A Peonies and Pampers Weekend!

Is it bad that you find you can look forward to work on Monday because you can rest??

I had a very fun and crazy weekend. Thank you to Court and Dave for letting me have a little slumber party at their pad Friday. Such fabulous hosts- Berkley too! I am so excited to see their new house! It will be AWESOME I am sure! I think Court needs to be some sort of fabulously funky vintage decorator. Her decor display skillz are unmatchable! I also discovered the chilled Reese thanks to Court. Super tasty!I got a new book while shopping with CB at Barnes. I got the Other Bolyen Girl. It is crazy, b/c I have had little time, but I am about 3/4 done with it! It is a quick read and a pretty good book. I am excited to see the movie. I find that time period fascinating. Women were told what to do and had zero opinion on anything! It would have been "off with her head" for me if I lived then. I seem to have an opinion on everything!

Becky's baby shower was lovely. Lots of cute baby stuff and it was nice to see everyone. I, however, still do not want a baby yet. I will let you all know if I ever have a change of heart!

Knox and Henderson was a delight with Court and her mom. I can now say I have dined at Chuy's. It was pretty good. :) That area always reminds me of when I was little. I remember my mom loved shopping at Weirs, and I would get rock candy at the little store. Lots of cute furniture too!Alli's birthday was a fun way to end the weekend. I was excited that my hubs could join me. I felt like I hadn't seen him much this weekend! 4 hours in the car cured that! I tend to stare at him when he drives. It drives him nuts, but I can't help it. I am just in love with the boy!

I painted "Pinkaliscious Peonies for Alli" (see below) for her birthday. I think she liked it! It reminded me of her, so I think it was a success! Her parent's made us a wonderful dinner and it was fun to see people two days in a row!
I am really looking forward to getting in bed after work and possibly finishing my book. I am a tired Jenny- but I had a wonderful weekend!!!
P.S. My mom just called and said that one of the workshop kitties that they thought was spayed looks like Angelina Jolie. (She was a walk up last year.) So, if anyone wants a cute little kitten (besides me and my niece Katie) let me know, and we can make it happen for you in the spring! I love kittens!!!

It's Almost "Caturday!"

Okay, it has been kind of a busy day!

I am excited because it is "Caturday" eve (as Greg and I like to call it.) I am headed to Dallas at 6:00pm to go have a slumber party with my chinchilla Courtney! I am pretty excited! Then tomorrow is a hair appt. at 8:30 (geesh!) and then Becky's baby shower. Afterwards Court and I are heading to Knox and Henderson to do some shopping for her new house- should be fun!

I am headed back to Tyler "Caturday" afternoon, and then back to Dallas for my brother's birthday lunch and Alli's birthday dinner on Sunday. It should be a fun and busy weekend!
I am sure you all were just dying to know all of this too!

Okay, back to work for me- boo! Almost time to GO!

Top Ten...

Reasons Why I Love Tyler and East Texas, and why I will probably never move back to Dallas:

10. My work commute is about 5-6 mins., which allows me to meet Greg at home for lunch. There is very little traffic!

9. There are plenty of lakes and fun parks in the area, and I can walk the dog after work and still feel safe!

8. Everyone is very easy going and super friendly. A great place to (maybe) raise a family!

7. The tap water tastes fantastic. I know this isn't a huge deal to some people, but wow it is to me! After living in Dallas, Waco and Canton- Tyler has GREAT water!

6. More casual work environment. I am wearing a denim skirt today- enough said.

5. Don Juans- it has to be the world's greatest Mexican food restaurant.

4. The Real Estate- Tyler has some seriously beautiful homes. I think it would shock most people to see if they drove around. It puts the nicer areas of Dallas to shame! The prices are also much nicer too!

3. Tyler Roses. What fun they have been! I now have 6 happy rose bushes, and often make trips to the Tyler Rose Garden. Such a beautiful thing to be known for!

2. The Trees. I go back to Dallas, and all I see is concrete. I have fallen in love with the trees.
1. My family is here. We have created a perfect little life in Tyler, and I don't think I could ever leave. I love our home, jobs, pets, friends, basically everything!
You are all welcome to come visit!
I love this picture. It was taken last spring. Oscar is eating my red tulips, and Celis is the look out! Caught in the act!

Hooray!

Greg, world's greatest husband and attorney, won his case, and he is almost home! I guess he heard I was looking for him! WOO HOO!

I promise- this is my last post for the day! I might need to go to "Posters Anonymous!" (OK, I am officially a dork!)

WANTED...

So, Greg has been super busy lately with a big trial in Marshall... as I mentioned yesterday. He left at 6:00am again this morning. I have no idea when I will see him tonight. Last night he finished up at around 8:30pm. I am starting to miss him very much! I hate not hearing from him all day, and not having lunch with him.

Christie is doing her very best to keep me busy! Last night I went over for a visit, and we watched American Idol and had pizza. I of course got to hold a happy little boy named Nathan. Such a cutie, but wow my hair is looking a little crazy!! He liked to be bop to the music! Today Christie also met me for lunch at this cute little "ladies who lunch" place called the Eatery. It was tasty! Such a good friend- to put up with me two days in a row!!!

Anyways, here is to hoping that this stupid trial is over soon! I need the husbanito back before my crazy fun Dallas weekend adventure! Courtney just told me that we get to go to Knox and Henderson to look for furniture after Becky's shower. I am kind of pumped. Anyone is welcome to join us, but I warn you... we are shopping machines!!!

Not Sure What to Think...

It is kind of like watching a friend's mom dance like a nut at a wedding. She is too old to be doing it, but you give her props for trying!

ETCF Scholarship News Story on KLTV

What a Day I's Had Today...

Well, it has been a crazy babooshka kind of day! Greg has a big trial going on in Marshall, TX, so he had to get up at 5:00am to go have breakfast with his clients... all the way in Marshall. So that was a fun good morning wake up. It is okay though, I love my hubs, and he can do no wrong. He was singing in the shower- so that was actually kind of a fun wake up call. He never sings in the shower. I rolled out of bed after dosing and headed to Starbucks to get un-groggied. Great, grand, wonderful stuff. Greg's lattes are better, but of course, he was in Marshall.

We had a board meeting today. (Maybe I should call it the BORED meeting! Haha) We have four a year, always a big deal. It went well. Dull as ever, but I guess that is to be expected. The board is made of up of big time lawyers, CPAs and bankers. No offense Greg or any other people that might offend. Just not my thing. I survived, and had a tasty lunch.

THEN KLTV showed up and filmed our story on our scholarship program. Kyle, my boss, and a former recipient were interviewed. I think it went really well! I am so glad I didn't have to do it. Like I said yesterday, I hate being recorded. What is the phobia name for that I wonder? It will be on at 10:00pm- so check it out if you are local!

Now I am just ready to go home. My brain in fried, and I am beat.

I do however have 2 very special "shout outs"

Happy BIRTHDAY Alli!
Happy 3 Month Old Day Nathan!!!

Love you both!

The Weekend Report...

Well, it is kind of a busy day, but I think I can spare a few moments to update the world on my weekend. I know, I know- I do not have a widely viewed blog, but I think the people who do read it look forward to it!

The weekend was alright. A rainy Saturday is never very fun, but I tried to make the most of it. I think my tennis plans got canceled for a reason. Some pretty sad stuff happened early on Saturday morning, so the mid morning was spent doing some damage control. Not going to go into on here, but Katie and I went shopping! I think we will continue to have a lot of fun shopping together the rest of our lives! Here are pictures of Katie modeling some outfits: Isn't she a beautiful little girl! I love her very much!!! We also had fancy cookies and went to lunch. Sarah got some outfits too, but being under 2- she didn't model them for us!

Greg and I tooled around in the car a few times when it wasn't raining. We have enjoyed just driving around and going to Sonic for diet cherry limeades or to Barnes and Nobles for coffee and book browsing. Sometimes Oscar joins us on our drives. He seems to like the wind in his hair like me! I really like spending time with Greg. I married the right guy. We are two peas in a nut shell. :)

Some of my flowers also decided to pop up and say hello from last year. Not too exciting, but I thought I would prove to the world that spring is coming!!
Tomorrow should be a very exciting day. We have a board meeting- always a bit overwhelming, and then the marketing superstar (ahem- ME) secured a story about our scholarship program on the main news station in Tyler (KLTV.com). They are coming at 2:00pm tomorrow to record it. It should be fun. I am hopefully not going to be the one interviewed. I don't mind public speaking at all, but the idea of being recorded sends me nutty. Hopefully I will be able to send it to you guys over e-mail, but I will for sure record it on my DVR! My press release (well a botched version of it) also ran in the Tyler Paper this weekend. Here is the link. Pass it on to people who might be eligible!

Well, that is all. Like I said- fairly calm weekend. I like to do very little on my weekends that I get to stay in Tyler. I did start a new book- so I guess that is exciting!!
