The J-List: My Week Thus Far Edition

It has been kind of a crazy busy week, but I am getting by with a little help from my friends...

Last night Jessica and her family made my mom and I a wonderful Mexican fiesta! It was oh so good! Jess even made her homemade tortillas! They are heaven on earth! This is one of there beautiful engagement pictures... Anyways, Jessica and Josh gave me one of Josh's cds. He is in a Christian band called The Common Ground Band. They are fantastic! In my opinion, they are kind of Beatles, meets Weezer, meets Daughtry with a Christian influence. I really enjoyed my ride home last night thanks to them! You can buy their cd on Itunes

So that is my first pick of the week- Get it Fire and Glory on Itunes. You will love it too!

Ed Hardy Koi Fish Scarf at NordstromI am a huge Ed Hardy fan. I don't really wear anything by Ed Hardy, but I think his designs are really cool. They are Tattoo Artist Chic. I did however fall in L*O*V*E with this scarf. It is not my usual style, but as Tim Gunn would say I think I can "Make it Work!" At least I am not getting a tattoo, just a scarf... it reminds me of my koi fish painting too. Loves it.

Tahari Metallic Crinkle Coat at Nordstrom

I am all about metallics these days. They go with EVERYTHING! I really needed a coat last year, but couldn't find one I was happy with. Then this morning this one popped into my inbox from SaleMail.com. If you haven't signed up for that you need to! I loved it. It is a great price, and will be warm enough for the Texas winters! Hopefully I will still love it when it gets here next week!

Bright Accessories

I have been playing on Polyvore a bunch with my dear friend Jaran this week, and I decided that neat accessories are the answer to having a fun wardrobe. I think having bright and fun necklaces, shoes, bags, broaches and earrings can make your outfits feel new and fresh everyday. Here are some examples of what I have working on with Jaran, and her desire to get out of her everyday work suit rut.

The Basics:

Pink with Broach

Spicy Summer Suits

Sweet Pink Suit Look

Brown Fall Red and Purple Look

Don't spend a fortune on accessories either! If your staples are nice, then everyone will assume your accessories are just as fancy too!

That is all for today! Back to work...

What I have on TODAY!

I have the navy/purple polka dot version of this dress, but you get the idea!

I feel a J-List coming on later today- Hooray!!!

What I have on Today!

The Mean Reds...

Holly Golightly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul Varjak: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?
Holly Golightly: No. The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul Varjak: Sure.
Holly Golightly: Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany's. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that'd make me feel like Tiffany's, then - then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

From Breakfast at Tiffany's

This kind of sums me up these days. I have had a lot of stuff going on lately with family, and I think I have turned my angst and worry into a slight shopping obsession- at least I am off of eating peanut butter m&ms like I was using to escape from reality last week. Hopefully I won't make us go broke. I need to switch my addiction this week to exercise!

Anyways, I have a few prayer requests:
1. My Memaw. She fell last Friday and broke her hip... now the doctors are saying she needs to fix her heart before they fix her hip. She had a mild heart attack from the stress of everything when she got to the hospital Friday. I love my Memaw dearly and it has been hard to deal with.

2. Mr. Irvine. Mr. Irvine has been a dear dear person in my life. He and his late wife Christine were very best friends with my grandparents- not the one who is in the hospital. He passed away on Saturday morning. Mr. Irvine was like a grandfather to my mother. He was 99 years old, and he was one of UT Austin's oldest alumni, and a huge fan like Greg. A neat fact about him is that he was responsible for purchasing the machine that invented the Slurpee while he worked for 7-11. He and his wife also went white water rafting and rock climbing when they were in their 80s. They were just amazing people, and he will be missed.

3. My sister- enough said.

4. My family- we are just having a hard time processing everything.

Your prayers are needed, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

What I have On TOdAY!

The cardigan is not a Baby Gap cardigan like this one, just the same shade green also from the Gap. I also couldn't find the exact shorts- but you get the idea. More to come later today!

So, I got this top at lunch today...

Now I just need the Dior Necklace and the shoes!! When is someone going to make a knock off of that Dior necklace? My Greg keeps saying no to it!

What I wish I had on Today....

My outfit is a tad blah today b/c Greg and I decided to make a late night of it after tennis, so this is what I wish I had on today. A girl can dream can't she?

My Addictions...

Project Runway... Kind of fun last night! Some of those models need to learn how to shop! Don't worry I won't tell you who is "In or Out"- but this is my favorite, and my least favorite from last night's show. Tim was dapper as always!I'd wear this - it is cute and simple. I like ruffles.

What the heck happened to this poor model? She looks awful in that mess of an outfit. Wow.

Polyvore... Yes, I can't stop! I made these little outfits this morning. Way too much fun going on and not enough work!

Summer Date Night- Aren't those shoes to DIE for???

Summer Work Outfit- Originally created for Mrs. Walz

Summer Wedding- That necklace is going on my life wish list!

Summer Play- I might need that necklace!

I feel like Stacy London...

Yes, I am a Polyvore addict already!

This is what I have on today, but my shoes are brown.

I just discovered...

www.polyvore.com

You can make outfits and post them to your blog!!!

This is what I have on today... I will try to get as close as possible and do it often. The necklace isn't quite right, the dress is actually the navy one and I couldn't find the exact shoes- but you get the idea!

Top Ten...

Top Ten Things I LOVE About Summer!

10. The HEAT! I know most of you think I am crazy, but I love it when it is 95+! I like to feel the hot sun on my body. I also like to sweat when I play tennis. It makes you feel so good and like all of the toxins are leaving your body. So bring on the HEAT!
9. No School Speed Zones. I get to work about 3 mins faster with out all of the 20 mile school zones. I enjoy that 3 extra mins in bed.
8. Flip Flops. I enjoy a good flip and a flop. I even wear fancy flip flop/sandals to work everyday. I really dislike wearing things that you can't slide on and off at your desk.
7. Tan Lines. I know, I know- you are not supposed to have them b/c you are not supposed to get tan anymore, but I think I look better with a little sun. I do wear sunscreen, but I still get a nice bronze! I also love the smell of sunscreen!

6. My Birthday is in the Summer- always makes it extra nice!

5. Shopping. There are always wonderful deals, esp. in the month of July, during the summer. The rest of the world is gearing up for fall, while we get to enjoy the heat until the end of October and can wear all of the summer sale stuff for months! (I do try to avoid buying REALLY summer clothes like eyelet and white shoes during these sales though- unless it is really really cute!)
4. Ice Cream and Snow Cones. What doesn't taste better on a hot day? I also get out of cooking a lot when it is hot- b/c it is too hot to heat up the kitchen. Shucks darn!3. Swimming. Who doesn't enjoy a good dip?

2. Leaving at 4 on Fridays. My old boss started this tradition. From Memorial Day to Labor Day we leave at 4 on Fridays. I wish it could be everyday or at least EVERY Friday, but I guess if it were every Friday I wouldn't have it as #2 on my What I Love About Summer list.
1. That it is ALMOST FALL! My favorite time of year!

What do YOU love about Summer? Leave it in the comments for all to read please!!!

The J List- The Weekender Edition

Well, I had a good and relaxing weekend. We had pizza and movie night at home Friday, I met Christie on Saturday for some serious shopping, and I played one hot tennis game on Sunday with the Lone Star ladies for practice. It was an ideal weekend at home in Tyler. I decided to base my J-List today on my weekend!

Crochet-trim wrap top
from the Gap

I decided I needed this top on Saturday while shopping with Christie at the Gap. It is cotton and rayon so I don't think it will wrinkle very much. It will work for all seasons and is very clean and simple. I love it! I like things with fun details.

Satin-sash dress
from the Gap

I got this little dress on sale also at the Gap Saturday. It is ultra comfortable. I cut off the belt ties and wear the sash a bit higher. I have it on today with a lime green cardigan! So comfortable!

City Style Dress - Animal Print
from New York and Company

I got this cute little dress while shopping on Saturday. It is so cool and light. I am going to throw a cardigan on it for work. It is a very subtle animal print- just dots placed on top of one another
to look animal print-ish.

Caffa Tazza Italian-style gourmet coffee bar
Caffe Tazza...Il vostro passaporto alla dolce vita (Your passport to the sweet life).

I had my art show at Caffe Tazza on Thursday, went back for lunch Saturday with Christie, and then Greg and I went for brunch on Sunday! I can't get enough!!! I love their Lattes and tea!
YUM!

Nike Women's Quick Slam Tennis Gear
I really like most of the Nike tennis clothing line. They do a really great job of making their clothes fun and girly. This is just one of the sets I like.

That is all for today! Time to go back to work!!!

The Art Show

What a fun night! Thank you for all of the sweet e-mails and support last night! It was WONDERFUL! I have been asked back for August 28th, and was even asked by the owners this morning to do a full spread of Tyler Roses for the Tyler Rose Festival. My work will remain in the cafe for sale for all of October. Talk about GREAT exposure and a ton of fun! I am supposed to fill up 6 panels of just ROSES! I better get crackin'!

I posted all of my art from the show with prices on www.jennifermoreman.com

Here are some personal photos of last night: Me and my sweet Greg. He was so much help these last few days!

My awesome parents
Sweet Katie Rose! She loved the fruit and cheese platter. I have never seen her eat so much!My great and wonderful dear friend Christie... we are going to lunch today at Newks- YUM-O!

Things are definitely rolling right along in my art world! I could not be more excited!

It's Show Time!

I got everything finished up last night thanks to my sweet husband who faithfully painted the canvas edges black, and for a brother who drove 2 hours just to bring me a painting I needed for the show! Thanks guys!!!

I even had time to watch PROJECT RUNWAY last night! I think that 98% of the people on there were slackers. The cups and the winner were great, and everyone else should be returned! Re-cast please!!! I think I would have used duck tape, yellow rubber gloves, green saran wrap and romaine- for a ruffle. That is my kind of challenge! I won't post pics b/c I know a lot of people are waiting to catch it on one of the million replays this week. Oh how I missed Tim Gunn! My bobble head is a constant reminder that I am FABULOUS, and I need to MAKE IT WORK!

Okay, I need to work. Enjoy these.... I always do!
